What happens when you connect your Google Account: explicit 1-click file picking, zero background drive scanning, and zero cloud lock-in.

Connecting your Google Account to Dori gives you a fast way to import Google Docs, Spreadsheets, and Drive PDFs into your local vault.

However, privacy and data ownership come first: Dori never scans, reads, or indexes your Google Drive automatically.

1. Our Privacy Guarantee: Zero Automatic Scanning

When you connect Google to Dori:

• No Bulk Reading: Dori does not scan your entire Google Drive or index your personal folders in the background.
• No Cloud Data Harvesting: Dori does not copy your Google files to an external server or cloud database.
• Scoped OAuth Permissions: Dori only requests file-level access (drive.file / drive.readonly per user pick). Dori cannot see or read files you haven’t explicitly chosen to import.

2. How Google Drive File Import Works

Importing a document from Google Drive is 100% user-directed:

1. Trigger Drive Picker: In Dori Portal or via command palette (⌘+K), select Import from Google Drive.
2. Select Specific File: The native Google Drive File Picker opens, allowing you to choose a specific Google Doc, Sheet, Slide, or PDF.
3. Local Conversion: Once picked, Dori fetches that single file, runs local conversion via embedded Markitdown, embeds a direct reference link back to the Google Drive original, and saves the formatted Markdown file into your local vault.

3. Disconnecting & Revoking Access

You remain in total control:

• You can disconnect your Google Account at any time in Settings → Connections → Google.
• Revoking access immediately halts the Drive Picker. All previously imported Markdown files remain 100% intact on your local hard drive.
