Folder watching

Point Dori at a folder on your Mac and it reads, extracts, and files whatever lands there — no manual uploads, no re-explaining context.

Point Dori at a folder — Downloads, Desktop, or any folder you choose — and files that land there get read and filed automatically, every time, without you doing anything.

Setting up a watched folder

Go to Settings → Auto-process. You can add a folder from a preset (Downloads, Desktop, “Received files”) or pick a custom path. For each folder you set:

• Recursive — whether subfolders are watched too.
• File types — which extensions Dori picks up (documents, spreadsheets, images, and more; you choose the list).
• Exclude patterns — files to ignore, like partial downloads (*.crdownload, *.part) or temp/lock files (*.tmp, ~$*).
• Review policy — how much Dori decides on its own:
  • Ask before processing — Dori waits for you to confirm each file.
  • Ask before processing (triage filing) — Dori suggests where a file should go, you confirm.
  • Auto process — no review; Dori files it immediately.

You can add multiple watched folders, each with its own settings, and turn any of them off without deleting the configuration.

What counts as “processed”

Depending on the file type, Dori extracts text, runs OCR or transcription, tags it, and links it into your vault the same way a manual capture would — see Ask anything for how to find it afterward.
